For me life takes place in ever changing surroundings, living between East and West, city and city, country and country, going back and forth, getting loosened and attached, having western roots, and eastern bounds. This living in between and in the midst of different cultures has made me aware of the importance of communication processes, and the way we perceive things and understand or misunderstand. It has become an important subject in my art projects. Another theme of interest is about how life evolves by layering parts of time over one another, and the attempt to remember, looking underneath and weaving these pieces together.

The over time grown interest in photography and digital art is an interesting addition to the original media of stone, bronze and ceramics. They seem very contradictory: ceramics for instance is as old as sedentary mankind itself, going back to 7000 BC.
Not so with photography and digital imaging. Photography has its photographic techniques dating only from the 19th century, and digital imaging & multi media are even younger!
It fascinates and challenges me to use these different media, even combining them, ˇĄgiving me a feeling of being involved in something that goes beyond timeˇ¦.
A recent project was an installation where a video clip was projected on different
porcelain tiles, the translucency of the porcelain let the images shine through the imprints in the tiles and were visible on the back side as well, representing how same messages can be perceived differently.
